Don Cossacks
The Joint Cossack folk choir is the oldest in Russia, whose history begins in 1811. With headquarters in Rostov on Don (located in the southwestern city European Russia), the company was founded in 1936 with the aim of preserving and disseminating the culture of the Cossack villages over the past 4 centuries inhabited the lands near the River Don between the borders of southern and eastern Russia.
The Don Cossacks reproduce ethnic songs and dances of the region in its original form. The songs carefully selected from a catalog historical dances accompanied always full of energy. The songs cover a wide variety of topics des of the joy of a wedding and holiday music, even military or laments for the lost songs of the warriors and comic songs of village life.
The company consists of a total of 80 persons: 30 singers, 30 dancers, 14 musicians and 6 other people here. Consists of artists who sing, dance, play traditional instruments and carry the extraordinary richness of the dresses and uniforms Cossacks, as one of the hallmarks of this culture are the traditions and customs. Legend and tradition come together with the most refined artistic quality, so when it comes to the Don Cossacks can be evoked only a word: spectacular, to say the critics.
